Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and reviewing accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, supporting monthly and year-end closing, and providing reliable financial information to management.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and review day-to-day accounting transactions and ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
Handle monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
Prepare and review financial reports and management reports.
Perform bank, customer, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations.
Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable balances and follow up on outstanding items.
Review project-related costs, expenses, revenues, and supporting documentation.
Monitor project accounting and ensure proper allocation of costs to the relevant projects.
Assist in monitoring project profitability, cost variances, and financial performance.
Support WIP (Work in Progress) accounting and project cost reporting.
Review subcontractor, supplier, and project-related invoices and ensure proper accounting treatment.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis when required.
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable IFRS requirements.
Coordinate with other departments regarding financial and accounting matters.
Support external auditors during audit processes and provide required schedules and supporting documents.
Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant/ Finance Manager.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
Mandatory: Previous experience in a construction/contracting company. Candidates without contracting/construction industry experience will not be considered.
Bilingual: Excellent Arabic and English communication skills, both written and spoken, are mandatory.
Strong knowledge of project accounting, project costing, WIP, and project profitability.
Good understanding of accounting principles and IFRS.
Strong experience in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in construction, civil works, infrastructure, MEP, maintenance, landscaping, or other contracting activities.
Experience with project costing, subcontractors, WIP, retention, advance payments, and project profitability.
Professional accounting certification or progress toward a professional qualification is an advantage.
